Introduction to Psychotherapy & Counselling, Lesson 3
Today’s lesson about hypnosis has really opened up my skeptical mind. Sometime in the 80’s or 90’s, I’ve watched a TV series about a hypnotist conducting a session with about 10 people on stage and asking them to do weird things. It seemed like they have no control of their actions and are totally in a ‘different world’. That was dramatic. However, I did watch it religiously every week.
It is not about the hypnotist controlling your mind while you were sleeping or losing total consciousness. I wonder how such information can seep through my brain and believing it. After today’s lesson, I realised that a hypnotised person is still living in their conscious mind. In fact, one of the staff in my school is a certified hypnotist and he hypnotised another staff, J, due to some stress-related issues. So, J was there to tell us about his experience. He could still remember going through the session and feeling so calm and relaxed. It was absolutely amazing.
Some people would say or believe that it’s the work of a devil. I wonder what this statement is based on. Are there any studies to show that hypnosis is really against the religion? Hmmm...
Anyway, here are just some of the many areas or issues you can overcome and gain control of by use of Hypnosis...
Stop Smoking
Weight Control
Stress Relieve
Remove Anxiety
Remove Fears
Relationships
Alcohol Abuse
Drug Abuse
Child Birth
